Mitch, please tell us more about the make and model of this Rickenbacker.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Kris is right. If this is the only ding on the guitar, I'd spend my time on a perfect match of color, using nitro or acrylic lacquer.
I'd spot in some of the paint, drop by drop, allowing each drop to dry overnight and shrink back. I'd drop in more than enough paint, so that the area was overfilled. Then I'd carefully sand the overfilled area back to surface level, using a hard sponge block and #2000 grit paper, lubricated with some Windex.
Then rubbing compound, Scratch-X. Zymol, in that order, all applied with a clean cotton cloth like a diaper.

“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”
