To Mr. Christopher Squire

Post by johnallg »

You cannot imagine the thrill and pleasure it was getting to meet you at the RIC 75th celebration at the HOB on Sunday. I was the one who compared hand sizes with you. Again, I want you to know just how much your body of work means to me. How you write and come up with your melodic, syncopated, and inspirational bass parts causes total awe.

Please know just how huge and loyal your fan base is! We here who hold you in high esteem are so glad you first picked up a bass. I played bass before Yes music hit the states, but you and your sound caused me to strive higher and also get a Rick. Your and Yes music speaks to the soul.

I hope you come around to our humble forum and even post once in a while if the mood strikes. Keep up the great work!

Oh, and I for one feel honored to be present for your first live performance of "Hold Out Your Hand" and "You By My Side" in 31 years - you nailed it! Big smiles on your face after. Excellent time!

He still amazes me when he plays. I was like a kid again watching him perform. I echo everything Johnallg said. I hope he does join us here.

What an amazing player ! What incredible tone ! Mr Squire has always been a big influence on me . Taking the rick and bass playing in general to new and unparallel'd heights . I too would be in awe if his presence graces this forum .

I wasnt able to make it to the 75th Anniversary celebration, but Chris has been such an inspiration for me ever since about '77, I would be honored to help roll out the welcome mat for him.

If it wasn't for Chris and Yes I wouldn't have got my first 4001 from Rose Morris, Shaftesbury Avenue, June 1974. Great day and a great bass.

I really wish I had made it to CA but it was a bit far from the UK. Looked at the video clip, very cool and looked like fun up on the stage.

Yes, thanks for all the years of great artistic impression and motivation Chris. When I became a music fan in the mid 70's, Yes was my first concert. Of all the great tones of that band, yours shone through more than any to my ears, and I was hooked. Your sound is always immediately recognizable, and associated with the Ric that I love.

Thank you!

Would have loved to been there, and seen THE MAN in action and to have had a look at his bass.

Fantastic videos! Don't suppose anyone's got a tab for "Hold Out Your Hand"? I feel the urge to get my CS out.

The man, the myth, the legend.... Chris, as I said to you the first time I met you, you're definitely THE BEST (IMHO)....

(BTW, Chris genuinely seemed quite touched when I told him that, despite having doubtless heard it a thousand times before...)
