Bobcat, no bass on DC? I can hear Cliff loud'n'clear! Although they were much better with Bon IMHO. My favourite rock'n'roll band of all time (unless you count Motorhead...)

Anyway,I tend to play really gently yet still like low tension strings. I hate a bass that's hard work! Give me a bass with that's hard to play and I'll ask you to pass me another bass....

Like I said, I love AC/DC, but I dunno about playing the music . . . I'm sure doing "Dirty Deeds" would be fun, though. Maybe I need to listen to them a bit more; I swear it takes a lot of effort for me to hear the bass on their music. Maybe my ears are having problems. Hehehe.

As for drummers, yes, it is annoying. The thing is, my keyboardist friend can also play drums very well, but he's a far better keyboardist than he is a drummer, and he also doesn't have a drum set (he sold it a couple years ago). Having Bruford guest on drums would be a treat though . . . one thing's for sure, he and Palmer are COMPLETELY different players, in almost every possible way.

Back to the actual thread topic . . . if you don't want to shell out $20 or so for DR Hi-Beams, you could try SIT Silencers: they're compressed steel rounds, sound very good, and only cost around $14 or so. They don't last as long as DR strings, but for the money, you can't beat them.

Dane,

"you haven't lived 'til you play bass on "Highway To Hell" or "Back In Black"... " you got that right!

I play ACDC all the time. you shook me all night, whole lotta rosie, live wire and some others.

bon is my prefered singer as well.

Bobcat, I know what you mean, but with me it is metalica after cliff burton. I cannot hear Newsteads bass playing.

Whole Lotta Rosie is one of the rockingist songs going. I was a big fan until Bon Scott died, can't take anything away from Brian Johnson (Johnston?) just that they were special with Scott.

The reason you can't hear Newsted's playing is because they literally turned him down in the mix. They were so broke up about Cliff that they didn't really ever want to deal with Jason or his bass-playing.

Cliff was also freaking amazing, whereas Newsted is, in my opinion, just good.

About AC/DC stuff . . . who knows? We might play something, we might not. I dunno what we would do for keys though . . . I don't hear a lot of piano or hammond in "TNT".

Bobcat, I know that newstead was toyed with and not respected by the powers that be in Metalica (Lars and James) but even on the supernova show I cannot hear this guy....I see his fingers moving but i hear Nada!
