I want to record some six string tracks, but unlike many of you poor devils, my "only" Ric is my 360/12c63. Anything wrong with removing the octave strings for some tracks (i.e., will I get essentially the same sound as a six string)? Cheers, RSG

I said what I said and now it's all this.

Brian Tye -- I've been looking at all the pics of the various factory tours that happened last weekend, and I seem to see unfinished 360/12C63s everywhere. Maybe I'm just hallucinating, or seeing what I want to see, but for both of our sakes, I hope not.
I know I heard from John Koelling that he thought he saw 40 or so on the production floor. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Hmm I don't recall seeing as many as 30 or 40 360/12c63s. My guesstimate is that there were closer to 20 of them in various stages of construction: maybe about 10 in pre-finish, about 4-6 in the paint shop and maybe a few more here and there. I also saw one getting routed for binding.
I think the factory had geared up for 330 and 4003 production because there were literally several dozen of each of those in work.

I just went back and counted all the c63s I could find in the photos I took during the tour. I found 23 different guitars and actually didn't have a photo of any after the paint shop (and these were all waiting to be painted...11 of them BTW).
The numbers I originally quoted were just a "gut" feel that I checked with several others. I still think that 30 is a very solid number, since I'd be surprised if I photographed every c63 on the line. If for some reason I did get them all, then it's possible that J. Oliver is right and I'm guilty of wishful thinking for my friends.
