In case anyone's interested I've posted some of my pics from the tour on Paul W.'s Yahoo! site.
For those of you who don't have the link handy, here you go---> http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/ricpics/
...under J.O.B.'s Photos. I think someone here really wanted to see the 660AFG. It's up there!

Rumbush,
GREAT pics! How did that DUMPSTER bass feel?
It looks SO nice. I keep asking John or Ben if it is possible that it will EVER be produced. Everyone here seems to REALLY like it! I ASSUME the lack of response is my answer!
Thanks again for sharing!

The only time a bass player gets noticed is when he stops playing.

The "dumpster" bass was just a test of various ideas and as such is a bit of a mish-mash. There may be some ideas that come out of it but not as an entire instrument like that.
You'll notice that I didn't choose to play that bass at the HOB; I don't care for the particularly brash sound that it produces but some might, such as someone looking for "beyond Chris Squire" sounds.

Thank you for your response John, it is greatly appreciated.
That is one STUNNING bass. Obviously, you would know the pro's & con's better than anyone, but the eye appeal is addicting. I can't stop looking at that bass! It just has such a sweet look, it all just flows together. The binding, body contour, beautiful wood, TRC, just stunning.
"beyond Chris Squire" now you REALLY have me intrigued!
It looks like part 4003, part 381V69!
I guess I'll have to wait and see what goodies actually make it into production.
Thanks again!

Yeah that German shoulder (that's what they call it right?) is pretty sweet and might make for an appealing feature on a future production bass. If I'm not mistaken, the pickguard and TRC are not see-through plexi as one might think from the picture, but are made from the same wood as the top of the bass. It really is a looker-and-a-half; the pictures don't do it justice.
I didn't ask to hold it but the gentleman in the picture was kind enough to take it down so we could get some snaps of it.
