Your biggest surprise @ the 75th Confluence?

Post by wmthor »

Meeting some great folks who I can now call friends wasn't a surprise. Seeing some great guitars wasn't a surprise.

Seeing Matt Hill of Hautewerk using a slide with his 660/12 at the HOB show, now that surprised me.

Yes, that was really cool. At the risk of being a total Ric-nerd (too late!) I would love to know what models were used for each song on the CD. There is a lot of slide on there too.

I have been enjoying the Hautewerk CD too and would like to know more about it.

The biggest surprise for me was the actual size of the RIC factory.

Was the factory larger or smaller than your expectations?

I didn't know that Darren drums as well as he does!

The factory was a little smaller than I thought. It was more partitioned than I thought, too.

I was blown away by Darren's drum skills. I was very glad he got up and took over for me!

+1 Darren rocked! He played a mean guitar, too.

1) Meeting so many new friends.
2) Being surprised how nice everyone was.
3) Locating the hole in the back of the neck where Rickenbacker inject the mojo
4) But my biggest surprise?............ I can't say yet. But it was certainly something I wasn't looking for Image

Yes, Darrin's drumming skills were certainly a pleasant surprise. They were topped only by his blues chops on Gary Clauson's 330. I had no idea that a 330 could sound like that.

You should hear Darren play SRV on his (new) 700 Comstock!

I should have warned everybody that Darren is multi-faceted. Guitar, bass, drums, glockenspeil (sp?), beer...... he can handle the lot!

Congrats, Darren!! Image

Really, what surprised me the most about the 75th was the fact that everyone was exactly as I expected them to be.... I'm glad there aren't any phonies here, LOL! And everybody was just as nice in person as they are online!
