Well, now I've done it!

John, apparently I'm coming across wrong. My intention was not to offend you or to take a "subtle" jab. I'm sorry if that's how it appears.

I have a feeling my posts won't be welcome here when others read what has transpired so I believe I'll be sliding into "lurk mode". GN forums here I come!

Brian- no worries mate, I've always found you to be a stand up guy and a great forumite who has plenty of good contributions. This place has a great "family" feel and we all know that families can experience turbulance at times. This forum is a very vibrant, entertaining place to visit and even if J.H. takes a break every once and a while he always comes back for the same reason that we all come back, this place is very addictive and harder to shake than a crack habit. Look how long Ken S. has been gone(from posting), does anyone doubt that he's not reading every word that's posted here?

Wouldn't be the same without you Brian. We have had many 'issues' on the forum, as Mark quite rightly says, families do, but it's how we react to them that shows our mettle. It doesn't matter who you offend (& I'm not talking specifically about you, or anyone else), it's up to the individuals to shake hands & get over it...that is what normaly happens here & it is a credit to Peters gentlemanly moderation that he sets the standard for the rest of us to follow.

Don't go...I for one, would miss you!

I'll go with the family analogy, however, I am not sure at times what family we most closely resemble. I will go out on the lurch with some possibilities.

a) Leave It To Beaver
b) The Brady Bunch
c) The Adams Family
d) The Sopranos
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Don't go, Brian. Please. You may be willing to take a break (a short one, i hope), but don't go.

I hope both John and Brian stick around. This place is made all the better by their presence.

Strong families tend to stick together through thick and thin, if the differences are relatively minor

IMHO of course.

I woke up this morning with a fresh mind and realized that I really didn't post anything that should have been a problem. I carefully worded and censored my posts so they were rational and made my point without attacks or being disrespectful. So I had decided to weather what I was sure would be some flaming and continue to torture the forum with my presence.

It's nice to see that I was wrong and that there were some kind messages posted along with several nice emails (thanks BTW). From past experience I expected some backlash for apparently alienating JH and I was wrong to underestimate the goodwill of the Forum and for that I apologize. You guys are the bestest!

Back to the shananigans!

these days I am really enjoying building my own basses and playing them ... nobody gets mad ... nobody gets disappointed ... and they all have 5 strings ... My rics are seeing less play time and more wall art time ...

For the most part the people who post here are Ric's best and most enthusiastic customers ... When John Hall gets mad at us he is not doing himself a favor ... I know every time he gets mad at me my desire to own and play Rickenbackers decreases slightly ... I learned a long time ago that everyone is not going to agree with me ... and I am comfortable with that ... I decided not to get a 75th bass because they only came in 4 string models ...
