Jeff, where did you get this bridge on this laredo. Is it 2 1/4" like the 4 string is? All the aftermarket five strange bridges look like they're too big to fit on a cheyenne.

Mark ... that bridge is 2 3/8" ... it came off of a Dillion 5 string musicman copy ... Epiphone also used that same bridge ... sometimes they show up on ebay ... I sometimes buy a whole bass just to get one of those bridges ... I usually keep a couple of them around for 4-2-5 Ric projects ... they come in gold, black, and chrome ...

yes most aftermarket bridges are 2 1/2" to 3" spacings ... Kahler makes an excellent 5 string bridge that adjusts from 2 1/4" to 2 3/4" I have also used that bridge on 4-2-5 projects ...

here's the Kahler

Wow, that bass... I think I part like it, part don't..... It's kinda hard to say exactly how I'd feel if I was presented with it.... I guess I like the fact that there's no pick guard, which makes it looks like a classy Fender. Strange...

Jeff- I found this bridge p/n BB3361C, if you google the number it will take you to the site. Its fairly inexpensive and they list the spacing at 2 1/4" which matches the factory spacing of the four string bridge, I'm just wondering if that would be too much of a squeeze. It looks like you could adjust the spacing wider on this by shimming between the barrels.

If you're wondering what this is leading to...I've been kicking around the idea of adding a fifth string to my 4004Cii, the neck seems perfect for an extra string, the headstock has lots of room too. Just have to get the bridge sorted out.

Mark ... I got one of them from allparts a few years ago ... it seemed to be a sound sucker ... but for what they are asking it might be worthwhile for you to try it ... 2 3/8" is more comfortable than 2 1/4" on a 5 string bass ...

you may have to buy a bass like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180024082636&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008 and replace the bridge and resell it on ebay ...

here is another one ... http://cgi.ebay.com/Dillion-VMB-500-5-String-Bass-KILLER-Sting-Ray-Copy_W0QQitemZ280023952909QQihZ018QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
