I believe that RIC has chosen not to have a say after they sell to a dealer.

Mr Roman has decided to sell one at list(sold) and keep the other. This according to a store rep.

My dealer is selling above list. He probably won't be my dealer much longer... He basically told me he has a chance to make a buck and he's going to do it. It all comes down to how much we want these things. I did find another dealer who gave me a break on a 360. He sold his one bass 10 minutes before I called.

Several years ago when the ZR1 Corvette came out, it had an MSRP of about $64,000.00. All of the dealers I knew about, including mine, were charging upwards of $100,000.00 for these cars. Since cars are generally sold on a sort of consignment bassis at dealers(the dealer pays GM after the car is sold) this practice would have been prohibited. However, dealers that had these cars bought them outright, knowing their limited availability and were therefore free to charge whatever they wanted for them. A manufacturer pulling the franchise for this reason would have been guilty of restriction of trade. I suspect the same is also true of Rickenbacker guitars.

You're kidding! I know they sell a bunch of Rics here because I ended up buying from the States because the waiting list was too long. By the "10% rule" (Canada has 10% of the U.S.'s population), we should at least get a few. Not that I could afford one anyways but I do so enjoy a good rant! I'm guessing Long and McQuade is responsible for this as they do the bulk of Ric business in Canada.

Yup ! Even if I personnally contacted L and M at least two weeks before the announcement of the Bass and also told them the exact date they had to call to reserve, they did not do so for myself and another friend of mine, who is actually a good contributor here as well. Pretty sad to see !

It's to up to me but I know of only Steve who ordered it from POTR, which is in the USA. Nobody else made an order through a canadian dealer, cause they did not call Ric.

I ordered a 660, also from POTR, and to tell you the truth, it's way better dealing with Chris anyway !
