Question about C64S
Just bought a brand new C64S. I have been attempting to lower the action and have not been able to be satisfied. The onthe action. Up until the 12 fret and beyond the action is still a little to high for my liking. Is it safe to file the saddles? The neck can't be straightened any more without buzzing on the 1st fret. Suggestions? I should be able to lower the action a little more to be satisfied for that kind of money.
Rick bass fanatic. I own and play several professionally. I have a passion for the S models.
I am having the same problem Ed, but with awful fret-buzz on the E and the A frets 1-5.

This is the one with the zero fret, so there isn't much distance between the strings and that 1st fret.
How low are you trying to go, Ed?
My C64S has the straightest neck and most level frets of all of my Ricks. How low you can take your action without fretbuzz (obviously) depends on how hard you hit your strings. I play finger style and hit my strings hard. I get a little buzz with mine and have my action set at around .090 at the 12th fret on the E and A.
