Interesting on the entire mystique regarding Ringo's drums!

So much has been researched and written about the Beatles guitars and such (at this point of time at least) a relative very small amount of data regarding Ringo's drums.

One other thing about he logo on Ringo's drumhead.
Ringo gradually acquired MANY different logo-ed drumheads for the various sets of Ludwigs he wound up owning.

The one used for The Sullivan Shows" as current story so has it, was retired from use after those initial first three Sullivan Shows.

There is another oddity regarding those Sullivan Shows.

Some 1964 still pics show an entirely DIFFERENT set of Ludwigs being used for part of the NYC Ed Sullivan rehearsals!
(These being a white set of Ludwigs with silver metallic sparkles)

This of course, begs for the question. Why?
I have no clue as to the truth

My personal theory is that Ringo's actual drums may have been delayed in transit by either Pan Am or whatever auto-currier Pam Am used to transport them over to CBS studio 51.

Possibly the white set of Ludwigs was "an emegency loaner???"

Anyone know the deal?

Wow...thanks for posting that. I wish the video would have gone longer--one of the Philly cops working protection for The Beatles was my uncle--at 6'5"/270, no wonder

. I, unfortunately was only 8 and not really into music...

Had to laugh whilst watching the 1964 Melbourne concert DVD,...John Lennon introduces a song to the crowd as .."one that you'll all probably know best!"
He then turns to Paul and George and repeats the phrase..:"probably know BEST!"
A slight dig at their former drummer!

Ringo's drums for the Ed Sullivan show were provided by Manny's Music in NYC. They got the model right, but the color wrong.

They assured everyone that by taping they would have a set with the proper Black Oyster finish. And the did.

Yes,Glenn, i am left with no doubt at all that this was what he meant! He turns to Paul and George and nods his head a few times as he says the phrase,then puts on his "Goon" face! Hilarious!
Considering it was only a matter of years(maybe months) since poor old Pete was given his marching orders, don't think he'd have found it too funny!

It was rather insensitive of John. Lucky it was only broadcast down under...at the time at least.
