Friday night....I'm staying up watching "Help!"

Post by wj350 »

I can't help myself...I absolutely love this movie...great songs aside, this was the first movie I was "allowed" to go to myself when I was a kid back in the '60s...

Any other hopeless "Help!" fans out there??

Even though "The Boys" didn't like it and AHDN is more critically acclaimed, I find it hilarious. One of my favorite films..........

Right on, Bill et. al., 'Help' is totally cool; and I must say that AHDN is truly a great piece of cinema, and one of the most heartfelt tributes to the Marx Bros. anyone in the modern era could have conceived...

I for one cannot count the times I've shouted "Mister, can we have our ball back?"...sometimes whilst running alongside a departing train...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Coincidentally, before reading this thread I was out looking for a DVD of Help. I'm sure my daughter would love it, and it's been years since I've seen it.
Probably have to order online.

so many great lines......

"I thought she was a sandwich, till she went spare on me hand"

"Good British plugs"

"Its the Brain Drain. His brain is draining"

"Get me the home office, he's wrecking my home"

"It's the heat, you know; it makes him stroppy"

John: "What're you doing on the floor?"

Ringo: "I'm tired."

"Just hold this drumstick..." LOL!...

Jerry, I found it on Ebay--I think the one I got was actually a Japanese release...I wish they would release a version like the 2-disc AHDN set.

My favorite part of Help! is when George is on the trunk of that Ford(?) Cortina(?) as the scientist and Algernon are attempting to escape with Ringo.

Even though the camera is undercranked he's still doing those stunts, including when the car backs into the cliff and crashing into and then climbing the tree.

It's funny but imagine any star - let alone a star the magnitude of a Beatle - doing anything like that today.
Listen to that sustain!

lotsa quotes here: http://beatleshelp.50megs.com/sounds/

John: What's this?
Ringo: A season ticket. What do you think it is?
John: Oh, I like a lot of seasoning in me soup.
