The cure

Post by levykev »

Simon Gallup, of the Cure, plays a nice black 4003 in the first set of their new 'Trilogy' DVD. They performed three of their albums, in a row over a two night period last November, in Germany. He uses his Rick bass for the 'Pornography' set, which is the first. The overall concert sound is amazing, plus he adds his own touch to the Rickenbacker signature rumble.

Whaahh!
Simon Gallup plays a 4003 instead of his old hollow bodies now?
Great news!
He's one of my favorite bass players out there.
I'll get that DVD soon!

Thanks for the headsup, Kevin.

Hey Paul-

He uses his Rick bass 4003 for the first set, his custom black hollow-body for the second set, and his Gibson Thunderbird for the third set. A different bass for each album. Ahhhh, the life.

Ha! C'est "LA VIE".
Je suppose qu'il est content avec sa nouvelle 4003 Jetglo qui va bien avec son image gothique.

Though only for a 1/3 of the show, still quite exciting for me.

Beau homme et belle RIC basse. Quelle scene!

Robert se voit un petit peu gros, non?

Voila.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Thanks for the info (and photos) ... 'Pornography' is my favorite Cure album, so I might have to check this out ... (and Rob's been a bit on the roly-poly side for many years now, hasn't he? But who else could possibly pull of his trademark frightwigged-goth-teddybear look?)
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.

Hey Doug-

The 'Pornography' set is worth the price of the DVD. It's amazing and Simon is great! He gets quite a sound out of his Rick. Check it out... you'll thank me for it.
