Well, except for the triangle inlays... Image Sorry David - couldn't resist. That is a beautiful bass.

I've got an 82 factory fretless as well. Bought it around 5 years ago for $2k. Absolutely love it. I posted some picks some time last year in another 4002 thread. I had been looking for 4005, but saw the 4002 and had to grab it. I'll try to dig up the old pics and repost.

Soon after I got it I wrote john hall to try to get more specifics. Pretty much only got the rare as hen's teeth.

Fascinating wood on that, Jerry. Bird's eye on the body and a very unique blend on the neck halves. And, yes. Let's see the front.

I suspect that is the sentiment of most 4002 owners.

Ohhh..giggles..yes, as Jaco called them.."Speed Bumps" I personally think that all basses secretlee desire to be fretless..but ,alas I cannot free them all..sigh

I seem to remember, about a year or two ago, a Forum member getting a 4002 for around $500.00 that was missing the original pickups. Does anyone remember this?
