Finally flatwounds

I have Chromes on my V63 and I love them. I also recently put them on my C64 again after bypassing the .0047 cap, and they sound excellent too. To my ears, bypassing the cap let the full range of tones from the C64 come out nicely. The Chromes just make it better. I still have DR nickel Lo-Riders on my 4003 for songs that need that sound.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

Nate, thanks, and thanks to the others for your generosity.
The strings used on the fist live track " The Four Chords Of The Apocalypse" (!) are a set of D'Addario Chromes 45-65-80-100 on a standard '80 4001 plugged straight into an Ashdown 500 head and two Ashdown 2x10 cabs. I would recommend these for sure.
I'm really pleased with the sound I get now, though it has to be tweeked from venue to venue. It's only taken me 37 years and amps by Hiwatt, Acoustic, Trace Elliot and now Ashdown to get there!

OOOps, just had a quick look at the web site and found that only GEF II is up at the moment, not The Four Chordes... The bass sound on this track is not so good, its a different gig to the old first track. Our sax player, Pat, deals with all this stuff and is probably messing about with the site at the moment.

Chromes on my C64S, and GHS Jazz Flats on my '05 4003. Love the sound of the GHS but am afraid of bridge lift, so I use the low-tension Chromes on my C64S.
