Thanks to Jon Casselman for sending along John Lennon taking a refreshment break while filming A Hard Day's Night (at least it looks like AHDN). One of the few photos of him with Harrison's Rickenbacker Model 360/12.

The coolest rock and roller ever playing the second Rickenbacker 12-string, it doesn't get any better. Still can't believe Lennon had the second hollow-body produced by Rickenbacker(his 1958 325 #V81), George had the second 12-string produced by Rickenbacker, and Paul had the first left-handed Hofner 500/1 ever produced. And Paul more than likely had the second left-handed Hofner 500/1 produced too. It doesn't get any rarer! The Beatles did everything right.

Wow! Great pics! Paul doesn't look as if Ringo is going to master the RIC 12 string anytime too soon, does he? HA ha!

Perhaps Paul is saying "Hear that note? That's the one I want you to hit on that song John and I wrote for you, okay?"

The actual line from the adjacent story page to that picture (also shows John's back but I cropped that) goes as follows:

"March 31, 1964: George tries to teach Ringo a guitar chord or two while waiting off-camera during the filming of the TV performance scene in A Hard Days Night. Paul doesn't look too impressed. Ringo would stick to playing drums.
John, meanwhile, looks out from the wings of London's (now-demolished) Scala Theatre, perhaps trying to catch a glimpse of the audience. WHat he couldn't have known, however, was that this included a future star in the making, for, among the 350 fans who were paid union rate to sob and scream their lungs out, there was a 13-year-old actor who would one day achieve international fame in his own right. The kid's name? Phil Collins."
Now all we need is John on the RIC 12 and the cycle is complete.
