When i was 16...

Post by sowhat »

...i thought i was going to take over the world with my songs. Thought i'd become a world famous rock star, you know: beer, fans, lots of guys ready to throw roses under my feet... Then, i thought, i'd have a huge house with two swimming pools, and three garages, and a Jeep, and a VW Beetle, and a Zaporozhets. And then i'll die at 28, leaving nothing to my creditors (ha-ha).
Today, i am 28. No world fame, no hits, no crazy fans. No huge house with swimming pools, and i don't drive. But i'm alive, and know what? I am happy. In those years, i've realized some things are more important than fame and money. Well, i guess you all know that. And that's fine by me.
I understand it's not very modest of me to start a "this-is-my-birthday" thread, especially given i'm nowhere close to an expert at any subject, but modesty never was among my virtues. You're cool people, and i'm glad i can talk to you. My warmest wishes to all. Here's to many more.
Cheers,
SC.

Hey Sheena!

You not only have a Ric but now you manage a rock band (ICBM)! Image

Let's see:

"no world fame" - Your pretty famous here, and the forumites are pretty global. I think you may actually have your world fame.

"no crazy fans" - I am mildly crazy, and I am a fan. You have at least one crazy fan!

"no hits" - by the post counter, you have at least 3253 hits. Maybe not hit singles, or hit CD's, but still hits.

So really, the big house with pool and several cars are the only parts not yet achieved, and they are way overrated compared to world fame, crazed fans, hits, and happiness. All that and your still only 28!

Happy Birthday Sheena. Have a wonderful day.

Hi Sheena, happy birthday young lady!

Add me to the "crazy fan" list. Ummmm......what are you wearing right now? (said in a creepy crazy voice)

Hold on good woman, I think a Zaporozhets(?) will be in your future very soon.
I'm just happy to be here.

Thanks, guys! You're too kind.Image
Actually, there was a Zaporozhets in my past, Gary - i was helping my bud to repair it. It didn't live long after my treatment, to be true... but then again, it was a very old car anyway.

Happy birthday, Sheena! I think Dean said it best, and I echo everything in his post.

Twenty-eight! You've got lots to be thankful for, and lots of time to celebrate the journey and mystery that is life!

BTW, if you ever find out exactly why we are here (no, not on this Forum--on this planet, in this universe...), please publish.

Oh yeah Sheena... what you said reminded me of a thought I had yesterday. Ten years ago, I had the world figured out... it's amazing just how much I managed to forget!

Happy birthday Sheena from the crazy lead guitarist (and bass player) of ICBM.

"The band" appreciates all you have done for us. We aren't rich and famous either but we are certainly having fun.

Nice remark, Kevin! Very kind of you. Image
Having fun is a good thing, Brian. Maybe one of the best things one can think of. I'm serious. Image
Oh yeah, and please try to decide on lead singers.
Thanks again!
