how does the svt 4-10 hlf rate ?

I used lots of SVT111 pros as backline at a lotta festivals, even a couple in Europe..there was a B2 or something in Ingolstadt Germany that was an Ampeg combo that was beeeeeeeeeeeyouu ti ful!
When I got back to Canada I was heartbroken to find out it was a discontinued model..but I am a TOTAL Ampeg girl..I love them...I use a V-9 head now, and my main combo for years was a G412 combo that was a transistor head with 4-12 inch Altecs..still wish I had it..I kept the cab, I need to recone 2 of the 12s..I usually wire 2 12's in parallel on 2 lines and run each four ohm line into the 2 4 ohm outs on the V-9..

i didn't get to check what the svt 4-10 impedance is and was wondering if could be 8 & 4 ohms in the same enclosure.

The SVT410HLF is a 4 ohm cab.

I have the Ampeg BSE410HLF. It pretty much kicks a*s.

Jeff, better than a SVT3 Pro?

Well, I'll answer that one, even if I'm not Jeff.

I think the SVT3 Pro is the better amp. I had the chance to test it in our rehearsal room once. But the B2-RE comes very close, at least as for practical usefulness. Perhaps there is a little (or not so little) difference in sound because of the preamp tube, but when playing live I think it's of minor importance, the B2-R(E) sounds Ampeg enough.

So, if you've got the money go for the SVT, if not the B2-R(E) will fit the bill.

Another vote for the B2RE here. I use mine with Ampeg 2X12 and 1X15 cabs.

Pablo - the B2RE is the solid state version of the 3 Pro, which is why I was curious. I know Jeff plays out a lot and has used both. The 3 Pro has 5 tubes (3 input, 2 driver). It has the same MOSFET output stage the B2RE has. I was curious how close they are to each other. I have the 2 Pro and the 3 Pro. I played a B2RE into an 810E at an Erie, PA store with a Tobias Growler. The amp was great; the Tobias (Gibson) was less than steller, for me.

stupid question on the topic of daisy-chaining cabs.

i have a SVT2x10 and a SVT1x15, the cabs are each rated at 4 ohms. my traynor head has a switch for 4 or 8ohms. if i link the cabs, are they 4ohms total, or 8?

Actually, Bryce, those cabs are both 8 ohm cabs so linking them (putting them in parallel) would be 4 ohms and there you have it.

Close enough for how we'd use it - the 4 and 8 ohm readings are nominal so even though the formula is for resistance and not reactance, it will work good enough.
