335 or 345?

Post by freud50 »

I was poking around the pickguard of my '66 (335?) and found a magic marker indication "345 D". Change of production? Simple mistake?

It could have been earmarked for a 345 originally, but changed to a 335 at the last minute. I've heard of similar markings before.

Sort of like my '65 4005. It had "4001" written in the control cavity. :>)

I also have a '66 335 that is marked 345. I can't remember if there is a "D" or not. I asked the same question here a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time ago, and was also told that the stock may have been originally going toward a 345.
