Not sure WHAT he was thinking actually..A very early use of the new FG formula..That was one of those "Well,somebody is gonna either love this or hate it" deals..It almost went back,but..

So it seems like people like red with more coverage huh? Interesting indeed

I like it because it's different. I wouldn't want it to become the standard pattern for fireglo, though. To me, that's more of a "transparent red". It would make an interesting option, but in the end, I think I like my FG's a little more "bursty".

I believe there were a few that were similar to what you have..I don't have a firm number..There was one that was even redder,but it got refinished..It looked pretty cool though..RBR?

I like the new fireglo formulation. It seems a little more firey to me.

I like it! My 4000 is similar, a lot of red, very subtle burst effect.
It looks really good when the finish ages.

I remember seeing a '78 4001 or 4003 that was like that about ten years ago being used in a college jazz band.

JH had said that the AFG will age very dark, almost black looking.
Mine's 30 years old & getting closer to Burg, but not quite that dark yet.

Believe it was the thread that had photos of several AFG's at the NAMM show. I don't see it in the current lists.

The 4003 at Old Boise Guitar Company that I have been talking about has a similiar "glo" to it. It's not quite as solid as the 620 on this thread. You can still see some burst or glo, but it is really a great finish in my opinion. It really adds depth to the bass IMO. That is why I mentioned it on another post, because it really is striking. I'm trying to get someone else to buy it, because I feel I'm only hours from pulling the trigger on it.
