Correct John was never released as a single over here, made top three in America, although when introducing song on stage now, Frank Allen uses some srtistic licence to say it made number one, but hey what's a couple of numbers between friends.

Roy. It might well have made No.1 in a couple of places in the States!
The Searchers are the best!

Sugar and Spice made number one in some "pop" magazines over here in England, point I raised in my article "Take It Or Leave It" which you originally kindly published, as did Peter the revamped version.

I think we have to go by the official records and every reference book I have, states number 3. What is clear is that it was their biggest hit in the states, which opens a new thread as I am not all that keen on it.

Roy's right. It got to #3 on the U.S charts (their highest record over here). "Needles and Pins" made it to #12 nationally (or maybe the high end of the top 10).It may have done better regionally. They were the two highest rated records over here,as I recall.
