Bob,
AND?????????????????????
J. Gary,
Thanks for the response! Any update? I'd really like to pick one of these up, but just wonder how they work on a RIC.

Tony, half the trouble with the Fulltone is all the variables. Seems there are numerous options making a choice difficult.
I've done some recording using a GK guitar head and loved the distortion sound of the bass. Crisp, tight and punchy. So far I'm unable to duplicate that same sound on the Fulltone.
The Fulltone does seem to come to life at louder volumes. It's a bigger or fatter distortion.
After Steve's post, I would try the T-Rex, and the Fulltone.
I'm going to use her tonight on a job. If she is not what I want, I could offer you this one. I bought her brand new just a couple weeks ago. I'll let you know tomorrow if she is going and at what price if you think you might be interested.

I'm just happy to be here.
Steve,
Thanks for the information, I've never heard of the T-Rex. I guess I'm going to have to check into it, thanks again.
J.Gary,
Ok, very cool, THANK YOU! I'd appreciate that.

Thanks Harry,
I wasn't going for any ONE sound, although I wanted some distortion or compression, but I don't want to lose the natural sound of the RIC.
I've NEVER used any kind of pedals before and this one looked like a good place to start. I didn't want a Geddy Lee pedal setup, just something small to get started.
I want to use it with my V63 to get some of that (for lack of a better term) Nektar "Recycled" sound. Just wanted to add some more "CLANG" into the mix and give me a few more sound options.
Thanks again, and by the way, if you get the chance, a sound clip would be VERY COOL, thanks!

I love Nektar, though I haven't listened to Recycled in years. I picked up the remastered versions of Remember the Future and A Tab in the Ocean recently though.
OK, as promised, here is a sound clip of my 4001 through the Fulltone Bass Drive. Added a touch of compression first, into the Bass Drive, then through my Alembic F-2B preamp set flat with the volume on 5 so as to (hopefully) minimize the effect on the sound.
I played the whole thing with a pick - I'm out of practice on roundwounds, so I couldn't do anything with my fingers! First is both pickups, then the bridge pickup, then the neck pickup. I wasn't totally consistent going from clean to overdriven to boost, but you'll get the idea.

Of course, these aren't the only sounds possible, and it will also most likely sound completely different in a full band setting. In other words, YMMV.
