Decent action here, could use a bit of a tweak but nothing bad. Comparable to any 4003's i've owned, but I think we've established that by now.

The one Tim S. owns had decent action as well.
However, the other two I've owned would only get high action, which meant neck resetting. Big Time!
Rod adjustments just would not work.

To think of the stress on that 8 string neck! They are so thin to start with, and then the extra tension on the old rod system.

I wonder if the action could ever be "low"...

There is some upbow in that neck. Typical of a 4005? I think not. I played a slew of them at the 75th and I played Jeff Scott's in Columbus. Typical for a 4005 is much better than that, in my estimation. The action on Kathleen is quite low too.

John, it was the circumstances with the bass. Just gave me a bad vibe and I didn't want to play it.

I will say this, Mike Parks worked very hard and was reasonable. I could not have gotten on Ebay what he netted me on the sale.
