So would I be strung up for wanting to use super slinkys on a 650?

Use what works best for you. I use regular slinkys on my 370. I use Pyramid flats on my 620-12.

Jerry. Ted is right. I am sure that you will find it a relief that there is no need to fret over the type of strings that you use on your 650. If you gauge things right there will be no need for a truss-rod adjustment either.

Peter, you are a NUT. You always stick your NECK out when posting. I think that you may have a SCREW loose, but we'll cross that BRIDGE when we come to it. Maybe it's your Canadian ACCENT. Boy, I am bad(***)at this.......

Boy you're keyed up this evening John. It's a bout time we heard from you. Things have been going to pot here lately without your input. Once again, you have demonstrated that you are a jack of all trades and master of fun. I suppose you will be off now for a drive in your new pickup. Don't forget to order those new toasters for the Lizard's Thicket. Schaller later.

....It's late; time to "switch" off the PC and induce some REMs....

Peter raves on like Old Man Kensey or Wendell Gee. These Days, his Imitation of Life leads him All The Way to Reno and makes him the King of Comedy.

I just hope Jeffery Bauguss is not a Sad Professor.

Huh??!

Hmmmm, is this a Canadian thang that's going right over my head? ~LOL~ Corey, perhaps your post is a subtle cue for me to yet again crank up my uncompensated endorsement for Pyramid & Thomastik-Infeld? Hey, I'm just a simple Nawth Car'lina boy; I'm innocent in all this. ;-)

Jeffery, I think it's an REM thing.

Jeffery - Hehe...yes, it is an R.E.M. reference thing. I could not resist posting when I noticed Peter had referenced my favourite band. I referenced you for the "Professor" part of the song title - I do not think you are "Sad"Image Unless of course, your supply of Pyramid & Thomastik-Infeld is running low?

So, on a 660/12, putting a slightly lighter set of strings (09...etc) do I have to reset the truss?? I want to do big Eric Clapton bends (when I get this guitar). I've tried huge bends on other ric models (w/standard ric setup/strings)both 6 & 12's and the 10's didn't seem to move like I wanted. Am I nuts to want to do my leads on a 12? I'm thinking coolness factor. You know, first on my block to shred a 12 string. That's me, Mr. Shred.

Jerry: I think that you may indeed have to slacken off on the truss-rods should you be switching to 9s. I also consider that trying to do "huge bends" on your 12 string may be asking too much of your instrument and your connective tissue.

No harm in trying though. I would be interested to hear how you make out in this endeavour.

Corey-- It would indeed be a sad day if the supply of Pyramids & Thomastik-Infelds dried up. That's a scary thought!
