Paul's Magical Mystery bass

Post by sashua »

Does anyone have a close up or at least a decent picture of the psychedelic Rickenbacker 4001 bass that Paul played om MMT (and was it the same one he used on Sgt. Pepper's)?

I need a few pics if anyone can help. Send to my e-mail in high rez. if you are feeling helpful and generous. Otherwise post here.
Thanks all!

Scroll down this section and look for MMT Paint Job.

Russ, I'm doing one for Brian Simer, Forum member and Idaho raconteur. We've combed the net and put out a similar request. Pickings are slim, but we did get enough to go on.

After all, who's gonna compare it with the original?

Good point. She's not exactly a beauty queen though...now that I get a good look at her. More like the ugly girl sitting at the end of the bar. Last call and she's going home with someone...and it'll probably still be a great ride for one lucky drunk.

Paul - please e-mail me when you have a moment. I'm trying to decide what finish to give this stripped down C64 bass. I am open to suggestions if you have some new grand idea floating around in that steel cage of a mind. Maybe I could be your lab rat.

Sorry Russ. Paul can't do that since I have copyrighted the design!

Just kidding!

Thanks Paul! Most people think my anecdotes are boring and trivial.

The WITH version turned out pretty good IIRC..I think it was done on a PMC for it is a pre C-Series left-handed bass and has a reverse headstock.

I believe that WITH made more than one of these...

They have Paul, but they won't ship to the US. They won't let you ship them a bass, refinish it and then ship it back. They will not allow you to purchase a template for the refinish.

They were no good to me at all.

Thanks Mike! You are to nice.

Does anyone have a link to the website for With.

The one I had is long gone and I would like to see what they have available.

Regards,

Ashley,

Unless you live in Japan, nothing is available. You can see their work though.

I have purchased from them some 8-9 years ago. They used to ship to the US.

Either way, I have my old girlfriend who is going to Japan to visit her relatives for a month and I wanted her to stop by there and see about picking up a few "goodies".

Thanks for the link to their site.

Regards
