My guess.....Since these auctions are not being pulled by Ric.
I think Mr. Hall is having a really big yard sale.

I cannot wait to get my 8 pole pick up and install it in an eight banger. I think that it is what it was intended for.

Well, I'll be...! Another one-off, and again, bearing every hallmark of a genuine Rick pickup - down to the aluminum mount plate: the one on my November '70 21 fret 4001 also reads "Harvey"! Wonders never cease indeed.

"I think Mr. Hall is having a really big yard sale. "

You never know - could be. The seller is in California, and his Ebay ID was created July 25 of this year.

Well, it's obvious somebody is having a big yard sale.

No, no, no. This is not JH (who doesn't need to clear anything out--he's got plenty of storage). This is "Doc" Pitillo, who was a member of this Forum for a few weeks and is no longer.

He is a repairperson in Fountain Valley, CA, near the RIC offices.

How he came by this stuff I don't know. I bought one small part from him a couple of weeks back. Right after that I heard about problems with delivery from other Forum members. I hope my part arrives eventually!

Incidentally, a blurb/spam notice for the sales he's having WAS pulled from the RIC corporate forum. No "for sale" posts permitted there for obvious reasons.

A few weeks? I thought, like, a couple of days.

Not having had time to check all of his posts, I erred on the conservative side, Sheena.

But you are probably right. The Doc Flap came and went rather quickly.

It's interesting how sometimes people will come to a forum such as this one, already having preconceptions about the general tenor of discussion, or in some cases, not having a clue as to how things are conducted. A foot becomes firmly planted in an oral cavity, or a selachimorpha gets jumped and the thread quickly deteriorates.

It took three posts for the final devolution in this case, as I recall. Those looking to relive this dark chapter will be frustrated; the thread has been d e l e t e d.

Yep, i remember. Soon after i posted something like "glad i missed the rant", the thread was gone.
The only thing i remember is that the word "fake" was mentioned. And that there were good things said about Doc's shop.

I believe that Doc was treated politely and fairly here. Whether clueless or just having a bad day, his response to one member's critique was out of proportion and inappropriate in its manner and word choice. In other words, he got personal.

"The Doc" does indeed have many genuine NOS Rickenbacker parts from way back. Some are strange looking like the above pick up, and the 8 pole hi gain baby that Dave bought, but they all show the classic Rickenbacker hallmark of the time.

A considerable amount has already been sold privately after his first few auctions were listed. Fortunately for Dave, that pick up was overlooked...

I'd say this is a late 60's or very early 70's pick up as was the 8 pole.

Interesting stuff he has for sale, but hopefully the personality clashes/delivery problems can be avoided with other sales.

From all of his other posts & the correspondence I've had with him I can say that Mark (the other party in the unfortunate name calling incident) is nothing like what 'Doc' posted.

He must be cleaning house. He's been in business for a while. I'm sure he's accumulated a lot of stuff - not just Ric, either. I've never done business with him, but he seems like a good guy.
