Allparts replacement parts

Post by lucky »

I hate to do this but what is your opinions on the Allpart Ric style tailpeice.I can't wait till i've saved for the original from Rosetti at £116.50,when i can get the Allparts version for £44.30 .I have never had patience i want everything done yesterday or sooner.I'm also toying with the idea of swaping my 1964 Hofner violin bass for a 4001V63.I miss playing my 4003.

You can order the genuine part from any North American Rickenbacker dealer, and it should be less than £116.50...

Is that $218 Canadian or Australian dollars? ;-)

Shawn, I'll probably get lynched for saying, but the Allparts one is probably just about the same piece. I say go with the Allparts one. Save yourself some cash. As long as it is a nice chunk of metal to anchor the strings, you shouldn't have a problem.

(Oh no, I'm a blasphemer... kill the witch!!! LOL)
What d'ya mean... the bass is TOO loud!

the allparts one is not identical to the real ric part but it is functional ... as long as you are not a purist then the allparts one will work ...

Thanks for the advice guy's i'm stuck on this. When i owned Fenders and other brands if i needed replacement parts,i bought things like the Allparts range mainly because i felt no attachment to that instrument they where just basses that i used sometimes. But with the 4003 it's different,i really like it the way it looks/sounds and feels.I find Rickenbacker basses very comfortable and easy to play.In all i may just bite the bullet and save for the original tailpeice,it will serve me right for being stupid and trying to do something i could'nt do properly.

Hi Shawn. Well, I don't know. I've just solved the problems I've had wit a non original tailpiece, it's ok it looks the same but, a few things here or there make the difference and may let you spend a bad time. e.g the mute pad lose functionality 'cause in my case there were not enough room for it and the adjustment was really poor. What did I do? I put back the original tailpiece and only used the mute foam glued onto the original piece (as it was) Well Shawn, hope it helps, and also hope my case was an exception...
I've turned into a kind of Dr. Rickenbackernstein, but I'm looking for hints and help

Hi Sergio thanks for the advice mate there is a music live show here in the U.K , in November so i'll have a look in case i find a tailpeice on one of the stalls.I think that once i've got a new tailpeice,i may buy the Allparts unit and put it away just in case.

Just compare prices, although as you said, better prices in the States
