Aitch & Peters Teignmouth tour

Post by tony_carey »

What a fantastic weekend. First of all, thanks to Aitch & Peter for being such great company, I really did enjoy myself & we had a 'terrific' fun packed time. Also, a big thankyou to Peter McCormack for making this all possible, you have touched peoples lives in ways that you probably couldn't have imagined...thankyou.

Some pics for you...

Beaming faces all around. What a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing Tony.

Yeah, but what's with the Les Paul ??? I thought those were forbidden here.

Steve: I think we can all appreciate that Tony might like to take a Les Paul beater on the road and to tougher gigs. Why risk hurting your Rickenbacker?

Thanks Tony and Wendy for looking after me for the weekend (bed, food and pub & airport shuttles), it was a really good gig and Aitch & I were pleased to be promoted from roadies assistants (lumpers)to apprentice drum technicians. The closest that I got to pulling a groupie was to tie a huge drunks shoe lace for him as he was either going to crush the kit or crush Aitch & me depending on which way he keeled over when he tried to lift a foot to do it himself. It truly was a good night and it was great to see The Rampant Carnivores" in full swing!

Great pics Tony. It looks like you blokes had a lot of fun. Hopefully you don't feel bad about using a Gibson at your gigs. I have an Epiphone Les Paul and also still have my old customized (two pickups)1959-60 Gibson Les Paul Jr that I used for many years. Gibson makes a great guitar. It's nice to be able to have a few great guitars to choose from when you are on stage.

Glad you like the pics everyone. We REALLY had a good time. It was so funny to watch Peter tying the shoes of that massive chap, who was seriously the worst for wear, with Aitch laughing his socks off in the background....great stuff.

Brian, thanks for your post & it's no secret that I use Les Paul Standards now as my main live gtr. However, I still know that Rics are the BEST gtrs in the world & will never feel any differantly. Gibsons give me the power & bass response that I need for a three piece rock band, but I will never feel the same about them as I do Rics...the Les Paul does a job for me. I am seriously thinking of a Ric/burstbucker combination. I know I'll go down in the hall of shame, but I love my Rics so much, but I really do need that little extra when it comes to power!

Nice pics; so glad to see that everyone was having fun.... What a cool trip for Aitch! Nice to know that one of our own can travel around the world and be welcomed and entertained by Rickenfriends wherever he goes! Image

Another job you can add to your list curriculum vitae Howard - Roadie. LOL Looking forward to hearing of all your exploits over the last couple of months.

Yes, Ron...... and I didn't bend, break or drop a thing! Tony was very generous in allowing a bloke with 6 or 8 pints under his belt to even look at his gear! Image

Tony and Wendy were the perfect hosts and my time in Teignmouth will never be forgotten.... as will all my experiences on this trip.

The Rampant Carnivores are a terrific band (that word again, Tony!) and I was lucky enough to be in the front row two nights running! It was an absolute pleasure lugging gear around for them... although Kit looked a bit nervous when I started carting his drums around!

It was also a huge pleasure to meet and spend time with Peter. I was so chuffed when Tony told be that Peter was flying down especially to hear the 'vores' and meet me. I've always got on well with people from the North and he was no exception - a genuinely lovely bloke. A great guy to spend time with and have a few jars. As I recall, we pretty much sorted out the problems of the world, didn't we Peter?? Image
