Plus five minus five!
Or a White/BT with a reasonable BIN?

This one won't last long!
Serial number makes it July 1978.

Some folks do prefer a 4001 to a 4003, & some even certain years.
I have no such preference, I'd go with a brand spankin' new 4003 for the same money, but then I've never had the pleasure of playing an early '70's 4001 (or even earlier than that).
Jeff Rath says the late '60's basses had a great resonance that's lacking in later ones.
All three of mine ('76, '77, & '81) have a different sound & feel.

Some things just get better with age I suppose...

yeah looks like that jetglo is going to go out of my price range (damn border fees)...I don't know what some people are thinking when it comes to run of the mill 4001's...did anyone see that white/BT 78' that had a BIN of +3000$ Canadian (2700$ US?) I thought that was pretty ridiculous.
I've made up my mind I'm getting Jim Glen's bass. It will have to satisfy my Rick needs for now but I can always get nicer ones in the future. I know that one won't be enough.

thanks john...I don't have a digital camera but I'll get someone to take some pics for me...I know a fellow forumite that frequents the guitar section, his name is Pat Magee...we went to the same high school and we both go to the same university...we're gonna jam once I get my bass...he has a '79 burgandyglo 360 (I think, I'm not very familiar with rick guitars...it has three pickups) and we might try and put together a blues band.
