4000 and (which) strings

Post by berth »

On a dutch forum there was a question from another forumite if he could put on any strings on a 4000.

This made me wonder (having a 4000 myself)....

The 4000 doesnt have a neckthru but a gluid in neck. So a different neck than a 4001. Is the string tension issue relavant for these basses?

I've used rounds on mine since 1986 with no problems at all.
I use 45-105 medium gauge strings & have tried many different brands.
The 4000 is no more fragile than a 4001, actually probably stronger due to there being no wood removed for a pickup rout at the base of the neck.
Plus five minus five!
