I bought a "Vintage" Rickenbacker truss rod cover on Ebay on the the 5th of October from the "Good Doctor"

When I called the store to finalise the deal I was told they were very "disappointed" in the sale and that they expected to get over $100 for it, I got it for $26, plus $5 shipping and $2 insurance. I expressed my sympathies, but pointed out that I'd won the Ebay auction.

So far despite two phone calls, and an Ebay message the cover has not turned up, there is now there is an identical cover back on Ebay with a BIN of $99 ...

That's what a "RESERVE" is for. You won, you should get it at the price you bid. It's an auction and it's fair marked at that moment in time.

I made that point to them when they were complaining that the badge "only" sold for $26.

Jim,

If You had won that cover for over $100 and decided you didn't want to pay,you would be regarded as a timewaster and given negative feedback.

You won the item fair and square and the sale should be honoured.......The doc is obviously not an honourable man.

I had to file a dispute through Ebay to get my part from the Good Doc delivered. He ended up posting an exchange of slander between himself and Vincent "Seth Goldfarb" Gallo using my full name on his Q & A for his 'One of a kind" horseshoe pickup - (that's how it got pulled.) After the dispute lit a fire under his where-with-all and I FINALLY got my part, I gave him a big fat neg on his feedback with no regrets. It's like someone said earlier in this thread - you are in a fragile position when you're trying to cultivate clientele. It's just downright foolish to treat your customers with disregard. The first time these guys had their whole Ebay store shut down due to RIC copyright infringement, I empathized with their situation and began funneling business their way from folks I knew who were in the market for what they were selling. This, and I gave them my own business. Why they decided to handle my business by reneging on my deal and getting downright belligerent is beyond me. They've done nothing but shoot themselves in the foot ever since I've watched them conduct business with others. But I guess these things will happen occasionally in the world of commerce. Sometimes you just run across mercenary types who don't believe in the importance of conducting business within honest and respectful parameters. As for his "customer relations" skills, the Good Doc strikes me as the kind of guy that will bang his head on the wall all day and them blame the rest of the world for his headache.

Fairly warned be thee, says I.

Indeed, if he wants to behave badly we can't stop him, just ignore him "so that he may play the fool nowhere but in his own house".

Definitely. And soon the fool will have an empty house (vacant store, whatever.) And for those of you who have already had the misfortune of a bad deal at the handling of the Good Doc, let the record show it. His Ebay feedback appears to be imbalanced in reflecting the sentiment of those he's dealt with.

Jim if you haven't already I would contact ebay (and paypal if you used it) and show them the new auction and explain the situation very carefully, you may succeed in getting the auction pulled. Whoever this doctor is he ripped you off obviously as it is improbable that he would have two of those old Ric TRC's and I wouldn't waste any time in getting ebay involved before it's gone.
I just got reimbursed from paypal for an improperly packed radio.

I don't do the part thing - yet. Just whole guitars. But I'd say it would be nice if you all, who do alot of this type of buying, might keep an eye out for the not so Good Doctor and put out the alert when he appears on Ebay and the likes. Sorta like here. I had never heard of him before.

Anyone who has had bad dealings with him, or anyone else for that matter really should rip them with the reviews. I know when I look at them, one or two bads over many sales don't matter much but if there are a serious number of listings, I shy away and look elsewhere.

It really stinks folks have to be like that.

It's very easy to get ripped off with ebay, paypal actually is good in a way as they will reimburse you if they find for you. They just pulled 485.00 out of someone's account and put it back in mine as it was not packed to my specifications and I had proof.
