I always shake my head when people ask for RIC to bring back certain COY's. The idea of a COY is that it's a special colour available for just one year. If you didn't order a COY instrument while they were available, find one used rather than asking RIC to bail you out.
As far as the 75th bass value is concerned, I agree with Andy that you'll probably see them in the $4-5K range initially. When you look at the current prices for Chis Squiers (1000 units) and Lemmys (60 units), I can certainly see them regularly trading in the $5K+ range in a short while.

I'm kind of puzzled at the discussion over what the value of these basses is/or will be. Is the concern from those that didn't get one and want to purchase on the used market, or from those that bought them in anticipation of making a profit on resale or ?????

I took the whole thing to be just a different color & trim appointments, sort of a show of appreciation to loyal, long term customers.
A CS or LK will obviously sound different than a standard 4003.

Brian, I think the answer to your question is a little of both. I think some people wanted to buy one, but just didn't find one. I think some of those people are wondering what the price will be in the secondary. Others purchased instruments for the purpose of making a profit. Therefore they are interested in what the prices will be in the secondary market. I bought two basses. One to keep and the other to keep if the prices stay in the $3,000 range. If it gets to the $4,000 or above, I will probably sell. I bought the 330, 360 and 660 as well. The 330 will probably be a gift for my son and the other 3 will probably stay with me for a while. That's where I am with the 75th's.

Probably a good move buying two of the basses in that case as it seems to be the most sought after, (likely reason is there are three guitars). Therefore it should appreciate the most of the four. As I said earlier it will be interesting to see prices and demand in the market over the next year.

I think right off the bat the prices would increase over list. They're all sold out. There must be people out there that probably never heard of them being produced that may want to acquire a model or two. Then you have those dealers that will end up securing a few to bring out on the floor in 5 years to see a nice return on them.

Good point Gerald. Not only are there people who hadn't heard of them, but I believe that some dealers haven't heard of them either. I think their will be enough interest after the release for those who wish to make a profit.

I know there is some disagreement, but to me it's the beautiful color combination that grabs me on the 75th guitars. I think perhaps the initial resistance to the CS was the striking color combination. At first I was underwhelmed by the CS appearance, and thought no thanks. However, as time rolled on they became a favorite of mine, and I regretted not buying one when they used to hang on the wall and be ignored.
As to the sound difference, it is a **** shoot. One can never know how the different wood/wire combinations are going to react. Again the CS was a big surprise for me. They definitely have their own sound, and in my experience, I've had the chance to try about half a dozen & owned two, the sound is consistent throughout the line.
We shall have to wait and see on the 75er's. They seem to be standard fare, but RIC can be somewhat mischievous. Seems of late they have been throwing a few sliders at us, adjustable pups, tone selectors, thin necks. Fun stuff!

Had I only known... Back when they came out, I was aware of the model release, but assumed the 1000 would sell right out, and not aware of any newsgroup for info like we get here. Getting one for the $900 I've seen others say they paid, I would have done it! To quote Dr. Smith, "Oh the pain..."
