Concerts you've missed

Jerry, given the fact that I've heard people who were at the same show (Verizon Center, DC) and said it was great, I will give what I can only say is my opinion. (But the Wash Post reviewer pretty much agreed with me.)
Two things. One - it seemed like he was "phoning it in." He let his two sidemen (Trucks and that left-handed guy) take most of the solos.
And two - I didn't care for the choice of material. There was not one Cream song. NOT ONE. No Sunshine. No White Room. No Spoonful. No Crossroads. No Badge. Nothing. There was nothing from Blind Faith. Nothing from early Derek... except Layla. I probably didn't even know half the songs he played.

Ronn, have you ever seen the Stones? If you've seen them already and they're a mile away, well we can understand. But you gotta see them at least once.

I always wanted to see Frank Zappa.

Next week, I am going to see the "Zappa Plays Zappa" tour, where Dweezil Zappa got alot of the old Zappa band together (including Steve Vai), playing just old Zappa stuff.

I am pumped for this show!! Has anybody else seen this tour?

Greg, definitely go to that show...I saw it over the summer and it was one of the tightest, most fun shows I have seen in a long time. I can only imagine how much better they are now! I saw them early in the tour...
I missed quite a few, Zeppelin on their ill-fated "Final Tour", never saw Queen, but I did see Zappa 19 times

(on the '88 tour, I saw him 3 nights in a row!!)

Ronn, I agree with Mark, though by now they are getting really OLD. I saw them on their "Last Tour" about 15-17 years and 8 or 9 tours ago. Lost my left ear to tinitus that concert and trip. Living Color led off but in the Pontiac Silverdome cement bowl they were so loud you couldn't even follow the beat, which was really too bad because I really wanted to hear them (LC). Stones put on a really good show and were better sound-wise, but still fairly garbled. First time I ever saw Stoners pissing in the corners and sinks in the bathrooms too!

I was all set to go see Motorhead when they came through New Brunswick a year or two ago...I was so psyched because hardly anybody comes to the maritimes...but the show got cancelled the day before me and my friends were ready to leave because they didn't sell enough tickets...I was super ******. Then one other time I was going to go see Iron Maiden in montreal but my parents wouldn't let me.

I have yet to see any big name acts in concert. (sigh)

I actually saw PART of the concert I missed:

1982: The Who are on their(first)farewell tour. The Clash is the opener on the tour. Two of my all-time favorites, gotta go. The closest the tour comes to my hometown, Corpus Christi,Texas, is Houston. The Astrodome. Got my ticket.
A week before the show The Clash pull out of the tour...and are replaced by...Billy Squier.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Well, I went anyway, but spent the BS set wandering around the 'Dome. The who kicked *** and I was hoarse afterwards, with some serious ringing in my ears. It was worth it.

I saw that very tour in September 82 at Rich Stadium, home of the Bills. The lineup was
David Johannson
The Clash
The Who

Great show, even though Johannson was seriously outclassed by the two acts that followed him. How he got to open was beyond me.

The year before at the same venue was the Rolling Stones. Opening for them was George Thorogood followed by Journey. Two great acts for that opener!

The opening dates were 22-23 September 1982 in Wash.D.C. at the Captial Centre, and I was at both shows, the 2nd night I was 20 rows back from the stage... The Clash didn't play these shows either, David Johannson was the only opener that night. I feel jipped now after 24 years, LOL..

The 'Eminence Front' live video you see on VH-1 Classic was filmed in DC during their sound check for these dates.

I bought tickets to see Roger McGuinn and Marshall Crenshaw a couple of years ago. I bought the tickets so early, the concert came and went....without me going. ******.
