I guess I don't see the point of two bass necks on one instrument, even with different tunings. Is there an assumption that in a single song you'd need two different tunings? On a bass?

Can someone elaborate?

Nothing says "heavy" like a bizarre, pointy guitar.

I imagine if one played it with a very short strap you'd run the risk of decapitation!

Or severe chest/neck injuries.
The hardware & pickups are probably worth a couple of hundred, if you had a project in mind.
Otherwise, not a chance in hell.

I've seen that spackle finish on new Musicman basses. I don't think I'd like that finish on patio furniture, much less a $1500 guitar.
If you think the binding on a guitar is hard on your wrist/arm, how about some abrasive paint finish?

The shape of that thing kinda reminds me of the crazy green sparkle Mouradian bass that Chris Squire plays.

As for double neck basses. Tim Commerford of Audioslave has a cool custom shop Fender double neck Jazz which has two fretted four string necks the difference lies in the tuning, the upper neck is B-E-A-D and the lower neck is A-D-G-C.

Speaking of double neck monstrosities, check this out. This is how you screw up a nice G&L bass.

But that's because Tim Commerford is too stupid to figure out there's such a thing as a 6 string bass.
