Getting the $700 SVT cab and the head for that price is a steal!! Great purchase - I wonder if the stockroom made a mistake?! You will really like that cab. Now if it was just about half the weight while retaining the sound.... BTW, I have that cab! :D

That is a good price - the cabs alone go for that. I noticed that the local GC about here dumped a lot of Ampeg stuff cheap. I wonder if they need restock with what is ever being produced now?

One look at the Ampeg website shows a lot of changes - for the worse. They removed the chat link - I guess they don't like us talking about them.

Someone in the repair field told me that they are still working on the overseas location. Lots of investment money being offered up and stuff. But some local snag where Macky got the tools but not the place in USA.

Just what I heard about........

As one who spent a lot of time on the Ampeg forums, it was taken down early this year. There were a few who were very active in attacking certain members so they just pulled the plug. It was an unmoderated forum, only very intermittiently checked on by anyone at Ampeg. It was unfortunate as there was a lot of very good info there that just disappeared one day.

BTW, THANKS PETER!!!! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

May be time to check my GC here for a deal on a 1x15 cab....

Yes the Ampeg forum was quite an interesting place, no holds barred. I miss it except for a few certain posts.

It was a great place except for 4 or 5 members. They caused all the disharmony. So the hundred or so of the rest of us had to lose out.

Wow! Did not know all that.

So - the new site lost all the industrial look and replaced it with a lot of girls trying to look like commercials from the 60s. Any guesses as to why?

So you don't notice when the SVT Classic you just laid down major coin for has a "Made in China" tag on it?

This sucks for the USA.

"Wall Street sucks."

What, you don't think every big name rocker isn't invested in stocks and mutual funds?! Macca even released a cd for Fidelity to bring in new investors. I got one.

70's SVT's blow away the Classics anyway, are more reliable, louder, sound better and are usually cheaper.

hi folks, i've been away for a while. i've been reading about the ampeg move. hows this effect the warranty and repairs? i really love the sound i'm getting out of my rig, just hope it holds up. there is a miss under standing on my order from mf.i payed 500 for the head and got an svt410hlf for the cost of a b410hlf. this is the best sounding rig i've ever owned. i understand there's a lamp-bulb which acts as a fuse in the cab. can any one tell me more about this and where i might get another one for backup?

I heard there is a diod or bulb to protect the tweeter. Don't know much more about it. I turn my tweeter off anyway - who needs that when I wanna rumble :-) There is more than enough high end in the 10s for a good gnarl. But - I guess the funk guys can use the tweeter.

They are not made out of the USA yet - but soon probably. I still want to get one of the 2x10 classic cabs. They come across Ebay once in a blue moon but always seem to get fought over pretty bad.

Glad that you love your rig!
