4003 AFG?

Post by beefandbones »

Anybody seen an Amber Fireglo 4003 surface yet? Looks like a couple have shipped. I'd love to get a look, as I've got one on order myself.

Some of the Ric Fireglos are beautiful rich colorful instruments ... some look like mercurochrome-glo ... I like a slightly darker fireglo that fades gently into the middle ...

It's also a great example of a cheap digital camera with flash, as that bass was actually quite gorgeous; didn't look like that at all in person.

Jeff, I think they were looking for this:

AFG is cool because it goes beyond just the color - the binding and inlays get ambered too. A really cool vintagey look overall.

THERE YOU GO!

Great picture John, thanks for posting!

I have a 4003FL AFG on order and I look forward to getting my FIRST FG bass!

I didn't know the binding & inlays had an amber tint also, very nice touch!

I got to see an AFG 330 in person a few months back, and the ambered inlays blew me away! They don't show up so well in that pic.

Here's an obvious example - check out the ambered checkered binding and inlays on this one!

Now THAT'S really paying attention to detail!

That is AMAZING. I really like the color on the 4003FL, I hope mine shows up looking like that!

I've heard it said that these can be DIFFICULT to get an accurate representation of the color to come out on film, but that guitar looks stunning.

I still love the FG on your old '68, Jeff. That is the best one I have seen...the dark maroon edges, then there is another shade, then another, and another as it graduates to the middle...and nice flame to boot.

WOW I'm also blown away with the ambering of the bindings and inlays. Didn't know they were doing that when I ordered mine, nice touch JH, thanks!!!

I have to agree on Jeff's old 68 bass. Killer looking Fireglo and flame. Simply one of the best.

Gerry Fergusson's 64 RM1999 is another great version of an aged Fireglo. http://rickresource.com/rrp/smodels.html

My 73 FL has ambered nicely too...

The '92 4003 fireglo I had for a short time had a nice amber color in the center.
I don't think my '79 fireglo will ever turn amber in the center. But I love it whether it does or doesn't.
