New wider-spaced nut for my '05 360/12

My '05 model 360/12 nut spacing is much tighter than my '86 620/12's spacing. I'd like to duplicate the older nut spacing for the new 360. Where can I buy the blank to do this?

You can buy the blanks from RIC Dealers or online from RIC at the Official Site. You could also buy a precut 330/12 nut from these sources.

I was told by a person named Richard today at RIC that the nut I have is the only one used on all their 12's, except the 660. Also, he said there were no blanks to be had. What now?

Supposedly, the spacing of the 12 string nut that RIC is selling this year is a new, wider spacing that takes into account the neck binding. It is supposed to be only slightly wider, but everyone that has gotten one raves about it.

Replace the nut with the newer one it makes a big difference

I purchased the new "wider nut" for my 2000 model Ric 360-12 that I have used extensively on the "You Tube" tour...LOL The change out was easy and I shaved it down a little at the time and got the string height where I wanted them. I did this nut change and put the Vintage Toasters in this guitar the same afternoon in June 2007 and the Toaster change out took all of 45 minutes with me being very careful.

The nut change out and fine tuning of the string height took about the same amount of time. Was it worth it? I'll put it this way, my 360-12 sat there on the stand and was rarely used for almost 7 years...and now, hardly a day goes by that I don't pick it up and play it, even if only for a few minutes. I liked the guitar from day one...but now I love the guitar! Fantastic quality, feel, looks, and sound! It's a keeper. -BC

I have always resisted the pre-cut nut simply because I can't see how any one-size-fits-all nut could be right on. A nut definitely needs massaging and fine-tuning to fit a particular guitar well.

Finally I bit down and bought some blanks and a set of nut files, spending about $85 in the process. After some growing pains and two initial goofups, the third time was a charm and I cut a sublimely spaced (if I do say so myself) nut for a 330/12 (which is actually on Ebay right now to fund the Return of Rosie). The guitar plays like butter.

I was initially quite intimidated at the prospect of doing this and now I laugh at myself for being so. It was not that hard for someone who is a little handy and can follow instructions.
