Jeff T., I got a bounceback on an e-mail I sent you this afternoon. "Bad file number" and "rejected - UCEProtect-1 feels that your mail server is a spam source." Could be one of those. Is your profile e-mail current? I had attached a pdf poster for my band on an invite for you to come up and boogie. Update me if you can.

Nice looking bass.
Please excuse my ignorance, but is the fingerboard wood actually different on the 'S' models? The only other Rickenbacker I've seen with a fingerboard similar to that is my 4001CS.

Hey Paul-
I got your email invite with the pdf poster. Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to make it up there if I can. Hubertus, WI is kind of a haul for me but it is possible.
My email address in my profile is correct. I just returned your email. Hopefully I'm not a source of spam! Yahoo is excellent at blocking out spam as I get very few, but there probably are plenty of jerks that send spam from Yahoo mailboxes and ruin a good thing for the rest of us.
I have your cell number and will call you if you want me to.

Jon-
About the S model fretboards...I have a few examples...Just like the deluxe Ricks they vary quite a bit in darkness. It's probably just that the wood color is more noticeable on an S model as your eyes aren't drawn to the inlays! My Ruby 4003S fretboard looks just like the one in this auction. My Turquoise 4003S is a little darker:

I was working on Steve Cooper's 1998 mg 4003s5 and compared it to my 1990 4003s5 ... both have bubinga fret boards ... mine was a brown walnut color and Steve's was a reddish color ... both looked nice ... just different ... and the 1998 4003s5 that I used to have had a reddish fretboard as well ...
My old 68 had great looking fret board wood ...
