Lets Talk Cords

Post by bassman_bob »

What brand of bass cord has given you the best sound, is low noise and holds up under weekend type usage ?

I've been using Rodam high quality cords for quite a few years. They're extremely well made and virtually noiseless.
Rodam will make custom length cords as well to any length. I needed a extra long cord for a special gig so I had them make me up a 35 footer a couple of years back. Again it's noiseless, just incredibly long.
Rodam Manufacturing Ltd are located in Toronto.

John: Wow! Did you use that 35 footer when you were with Milli Vanilli?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Robert-- This subject was discussed recently in a thread in the "Talk to the Toneman" area. One brand you are strongly urged to investigate is Evidence Audio. Don Butler is a hardcore advocate, and so am I.

Why Evidence Audio? And John did you really play with Milli Vanilli?

I played on every song they recorded their amazing vocals to. I told you guys, it was a special gig!

Quantum oxygen-free cables. I also use the extra cable that comes with the ric-o-sound box. I believe it's a Neglex.

Whatever happened to the old telephone cord types you used to see in the late '60s - '70s? You just can't find those anywhere these days!

They still sell the telephone cord types at radio shack, for those oldies bands seeking authenticity!

Gene, you might be satisfied with the Fender "Tweed" series for that old fashioned look.

I use Planet Waves cables from D'Addario.

We used to call those telephone cords Curly Q cords, they never lasted long, no actually I had one that lasted for a year and a half of constant gigging, 4-6 gigs per week, but I can't remember the name. This was about twenty years ago, I used to like them because they were usually hanging in the air not under your feet.

I've been using the Fender Vintage Voltage cables for a couple of years - quite satisfactory. When/if they die, I'm going to try Planet Waves or George L's.
