Anyone using Mesa Boogie amps ??
I will possibly have to upgrade the amp....I was thinking Mesa or Ampeg. I read a lot of good comments on the Ampeg stuff ( which I use, B200R ) but not much said on the Mesa Boogie line...
Any comments ??

Our new Guitar Center will be havng their local Grand Opening sometime soon, so I'm hoping to get to try out a Mesa Powerhouse 2 x 12 cab if and when they stock one. I hear good things!

Marc, if you are looking for something small enough to throw in the car, great tube warmth and tone, powerful enough to support most gigs, short of one with Motorhead, check out Boogie's Walkabout Scout series.
They offer 300 watts, 12" & 15" speaker models. I own a Scout with the 12" speaker. It is an amazing combination of portable power & sound.
Can be pricey, but worth every penny.

I'm just happy to be here.

Mesa sets the prices for their dealers. The only way I've seen Mesa equipment go for less than the fixed price is for it to be a store demo or something like New Old Stock that a store is wanting to clear out.
So the lesson is:
The good thing about Mesa stuff is that the price is the same no matter where you buy it.
The bad thing about Mesa stuff is that the price is the same no matter where you buy it.

I thought price fixing went out in the 1960s?! In fact McIntosh was one of the high profile companies prosecuted by the federal government.

It might be a different kind of "fixing". I may just be using the wrong terminology. But I've been told that Authorized Mesa Boogie Dealers have very strict pricing guidelines they must follow in order to maintain their dealership privileges. And they way it was explained to me, this results in the same price on the same Mesa product, coast-to-coast. This supposedly also explains why Mesa stuff cannot be sold (brand-new) on the Internet.
