Andy, Colin, Dave and Terry playing Senses Working Overtime.

Dave's playing a JetGlo 360.

A band's band XTC was, composed of musician's musicians and Andy and Colin are, of course, songwriter's songwriters.

After I moved on from my teenage prog rock and then heavy metal musical tastes I glommed on to these guys and never let go. They've been my favorite band since 1983.

Their musicality and sheer creativeness has always kept me massively impressed.

I met Andy at the San Francisco Virgin records in 1998. He signed my original Skylarking LP (and added some huge army boots to the girl on the cover) and also signed my Dear God 12" single. Both of those are on the wall in my entertainment room now.

Alan - I saw Andy at the Tower Records in Toronto years ago (probably on the same Apple Venus promo tour you saw him on). He's the only "entertainer" that I would ever do something like that for.

I got hooked in with the song - Senses Working Overtime - back in 1982.

"The Dukes" solidified it for me.

One of my faves, as well.
Admire them also for not touring (though it was due to a phobia)

Huge XTC fan here, as well. I think Dave's 12 string work on the "English Settlement" album made me a lifelong Rick lover. Weller's work on his 330 with the Jam was right up there, too. Back to XTC, though, Dave Gregory is in my opinion one of the most underrated guitarist of the last 25 years.

Dave Gregory's playing was always the "icing on the cake" on XTC recordings. An amazing player!

Gotta agree. Did he play his trusty Rick on "Fly On The Wall", which is my favourite XTC song?

Have a good holiday/Christmas/crazy kinda holiday thing, Mr. Wood.

"Fly on the Wall" has a weird buzzy sound (appropriately enough), so I'm not sure what Dave Gregory would have used. That track is on English Settlement though, which is chock full of 360/12 work by Dave, so I guess it could be 12 string.
Have a Happy Turkey Day Mr. Kern!
