Macca-esque Sanded Horn 4001 on EBay

Post by mortivan »

There's a 4001 on E-bay with the hemp-induced McCartneyish sanded horns (Ugh!). Headstock is normal, so it's not a 4001C64S.

Is this a owner-modified 4001V63?

From the bad pics that they provided I'd have to guess that it is a V63...
Maybe it's Sir Paul selling his, in order to pay a few wedding day bills? ;~)
(hey, it just says southeast US, maybe he means really far east!)

I e-mailed a seller once and asked him that, he said: "now that'll cost ya"

Brian: I guess you've stepped on some toes here. A strange feat indeed.

That certainly wouldn't be the new Ric smell...

Nice bass except for the mod. I still love that walnut wing look.

My Ric is a lefty 1982 4003s, that I've stripped the finish and rounded the horns, and stained faux walnut wings on the headstock to give it that Wings look, very much like this bass. I hope to never sell it, but I might let my foot go for the right price. ;-)

I'd proceed with caution on that bass. I emailed the owner for some more info and a closer photo of the body, and I got a rather curt reply saying it has "triangle inlays and 2 sockets". He has ignored my reply asking why the photo has dots and he says triangles, and still hasnt answered about the horns etc. His feedback aint too good either, I think I'll pass on this one.

The bass (foot and all) has been relisted.

I thought it had sold last week.

Could it be that the buyer received a bass that was not the one in the picture?

Or was the funky smell of feet just too strong for the transaction to take hold?

;)
My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Hey Jeff, are you based in Pennsylvania? There's a Jeff Ulmer that's about 300 feet from me.
