Kingsize Taylor & The Dominoes

Post by admin »

Geoff: You talk about a memory of Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes "in full flow" on another thread. Would you be so kind as to elaborate on this memory?

I cannot comment on any of the groups except Teddy Taylor simply because I was too busy to go down to the basement.Seven -clock Sunday morning the event had started to wind down, there would only be four bouncers on duty, the dawn sky outside, a bit of a chill in the air,a time to have a breather and relax.
Going down the wooden stairs into the basement, everywhere was dark except for the stage,in the basement area there was approximately five hundred people still left ,most of these would be followers of King Size Taylor & The Dominoes including myself,on the stage the group were performing one of the harmonious they were famous for,the three front men plus the key board player were singing at four microphones the sax player along with the drummer were playing at the back of the stage, they were all primed and pumped up, the sound was terrific, never to be forgotten.
The group specialized in true rock & roll numbers.
Teddy Taylor was a huge man, at the time, two of the other front men, were not much smaller with their tartan check coats, white shirts black bootlace ties they were a sight to behold.

Thanks Geoff. I must try to find some of Teddy Taylors recordings which, along with your memories, may give me a good idea of what it must have felt like to be there.

I understand that Kingsize has had the chance to visit the Iron Door Club Forum and when he is able will provide us with his memories of the Club.

Welcome Teddy, it will be good to have you onboard.

We have just heard from Kingsize Taylor who has kindly given permission to play one of his songs from the early 1960s. You can hear it at the above link. Thanks so much for this Kingsize.
