[Preface: I have no interest, financial or otherwise, with JBox. In fact, I’m one of the few people who has posted that its value (to me) is less than sterling.
And, as I’ve qualified many times before, I will never argue or disagree with how the Hall family owns or operates their company. One cannot argue very much with their success.
Nor do I have any knowledge on whether any device was reverse-engineered or not. Nor any legal opinions about alleged same.
Sorry, had to say that.]
But I can’t reconcile in my mind how the existence of a second party compressor or one made/sold by RIC diminishes the value of a guitar model that includes a compressor while at the same time Mr. JH himself has often (here and elsewhere) touted the merits of the Line 6 Pod device.
If the value of a RM is diminished, then it is diminished. Regardless of what brands are out there. One cannot say (logically) that THIS device diminishes a guitar’s value but THIS one does not.
See what I mean.

My Janglebox sounds great with my 360-12, Fender Telecaster, and my Gretsch 6120-60. IMHO the Janglebox was worth every penny I paid for it. I used to own a Dyna Comp and other compressors. The Janglebox gives me the sound I have been searching for for 30 plus years. It's all pieces of a puzzle to get the sound you hear in your head. My Ric is my favorite guitar and my Janglebox is my favorite pedal.

My feelings are pretty much right in line with William's here.
I'm also more or less stunned to hear from the CEO of the most apparently vintage -minded guitar company in the world that some digital unit is superior to anything analog (indeed, something analog that's not liked because it's 'possibly' too similar to something included in a vintage -minded guitar model). That one has me more less feeling like Mark H. (scratching my head).
I've heard and played through Line6 stuff. It's allright IMO. The Janglebox is way better than allright.

Hang in, Paul. there was a period in my late 20s I was getting chronic kidneystones, about 1 every 6-8 months, and they just completely lay you out flat. I would go to an ER and no amount of pain medication will take the pain away. (The meds would, however, both leave you in pain and make you stupid.)
I will never ever in a million years argue against the proposition that there may be no greater physical pain experienced that by a woman giving birth, but I will bet you anything that kidneystones come REAL close.
As for janglepods and lineboxes, it would seem this subject, both here and at the RIC Forum, has been done to death. I have no dog in this hunt, the only FX box I have is an old fashioned "fuzz-tone", but I would say that neither side is going to budge and that's fine with me. Now can we go talk about less volatile subjects, such as the 2007 COY, or narrow guitar necks, or Nancy Pelosi?

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I kinda think myself as somewhat who is intelligent and educated... I bought one of those boxes and I can't get it to sound like a McGuinn... It sounds jangly, but not like a McGuinn. Is it what amp I'm using? I don't know. That's why I never would have thought it would spark up this much attention.
