2006 Purple Blueburst 330
Moderators: rickenbrother, ajish4
I really like these variations coming out of the finish department lately. I'm thinking also of that fireglo that was a bit more solid than most. You get this kind of thing when stuff is made by humans, and it adds more excitement and interest to the product, too. I like this "purple" alot, although I'd describe it as more of a royal blue perhaps. It has the look of faded denim, don't you think? Very cool.
When we try new materials, sometimes some cool things get discovered..Other times, not so much..One good thing about the differences in finish (my opinion only) is that you're not going to have someone say,"Hey I have a 330 BBR EXACTLY like yours". Keep watch,we may be doing more subtle things like this in the future..
"It's not the obscene thick gloss, but how it's applied"
I've said it before but I think the Hudson purpleburst would be an awesome COY. Unfortunately JH has stated that he feels the diametric opposite about purple as a COY.
I for one hope and pray that we will have no more blue COY shades for a long, long time.
I like that violet-blueishburst on the 330, very sweet.

Ah, the fun and confusion of color names...
First there's the name. Then there's the color shifts in photography, printing, and monitor color temperature.
Finally, there's the human, subjective interpretations.
Dark Cherry Metallic is closer to burgundy than to most purples. Then again, some folks consider burgundy to be purple. So...

"Isn't "purple" the color used for the 75th models? Dark Cherry Metallic looks very purple in the photos I've seen"
Purple / Violet is shades of Red & Blue mixed together, Burgundy / Cherry / Claret are shades of Dark Red (Red mixed with Black in effect)
Supposedly a a lot of people have trouble telling them apart, due to differences in eyesight.

Speaking in terms of the spectrum, I suppose this could be correct.
But, I can mix a lovely Burgundy with red and blue tinting colors and not a bit of black.
The differences in eyesight to which you refer, John, can sometimes be chalked up to a type of color-blindness. But it's more often due to our complete inability to actually define color without reference material to compare it to.
For instance, try to define "red" without referring to any other object or color; without saying, "It's like _____" or, "It's brighter than ____", or, "It's in between ___ and ___".

Mnemonic device for the colors of the visible spectrum: Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet
So as far as the visible spectrum is concerned, violet is a "pure" color, while indigo is a mixture of blue and violet.
BTW, this 360 BBR has a hint of purple to it, IMO:
