Top layer of pickguard Morris Reissue??

Post by ric330 »

I've got a Morris reissue from 1988 (See picture) that is missing the Top layer pickguard. Can I take a newer RIC 3 pickup 330 top layer and fit? Or can I take a newer RIC 2 pickup 330 top layer and cut off the wing and polish, that goes up between the pickups?
Any help would be appreciated. Not sure that I want to put it on but it would be nice to have with the guitar. The original top layer is long gone.

Kevin, I believe your ideas will work. I can check tomorrow and let you know for sure.

I might even have an extra top guard around that I can send you.

A top tier pickguard for a 340 should work fine.

You should try gold with vintage knobs on this one! That would be stunning.

Oh yeah!

Is the "R" tailpiece and the silver knobs stock for that guitar, Kevin? I would have thought the Rose Morris guitars had a trapeze and black knobs.

Thanks Kevin, If you could check that would be great.

Hey John, I had a 360V64 (6-string)that had gold pickguard and trussrod cover that was an ambered fireglow and it was really cool but I sold that for some wim of a guitar purchase ...stupid.... But I've come to find out that those truss rod covers are very had to come by in matching gold to match the pickguard. Image

Yep, you're right Kevin - you can no longer swap a white TRC for a gold one with RIC, AFAIK.

John, Kevin Jones stated his new guitar is actually a "1998 PT" Pete Townsend LE model. The R tailpiece and silver top knobs would be correct for that model.

Kevin, Beautiful V64! I have a 12 string like that from 1990.

Yes, it's a PT model but sorry to say no top pickguard.

The Morris 2 PU looks real fine with the Gold, vintage knobs and trapeze tail.
