I was just thinking the those Doritos were being used as inlay templates when I saw the post saying the same thing...I am glad to hear such good things about the posters here. I think I will just continue to be nervous until it is back home...

Hey, just another thing...Does anyone know anyone that can restore the original silver case?

It wasn't a fitted case. After years of the bass bumping around in it, the end of the case has given out. It's being held together by bits of silver tolex and duct tape. Plus some of the latches need to be replaced. I have seen a couple of new cases on occasion on eBay, but I'd like to keep the case original too, if at all possible.

I just found these pics again. I really think this is what Rics are for...generations of musicians enjoying a fine instrument. These are of my Dad and my son and my '79 4001

Looks like your son got all tired out just hanging on to that thing! Its almost 3 times his size! Great pics, and nice bass!

Thanks. I was actually just messing around with that bass in the living room while my kid and I watched TV. I got up to get a drink from the kitchen and answer a phone call. Suddenly I heard "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" really loudly from the living room. My son had gotten a mic stand from the corner of the room, set it up with a mic and the correct cable, hooked it up to a guitar amp, and started accompanying himself with the 4001. I couldn't stop laughing. He set up that mic completely on his own. Most of my friends' kids are busy playing with footballs or dolls. My kid's always playing his Strat Jr., asking for a Telecaster, and telling everyone how much he loves "Daddy's RinkyBonkers." He's only 4. He'll get it right someday!

Sounds like a natural... Is the stage big enough for the three of you? And kids always upstage by the fact of being kids! Great story, Javier!

That kid will be our meal ticket one day! Just kidding, but seriously, I really look forward to the day that my kid will be able to share a stage with me and my brother. I'd love to take the stage one day and just watch my kid JAM!!!!
