Okay... as i said, the majority of my songs are in Russian, and here's an "across the ocean" collaboration on one of my old songs (written in 1999): that was my first ever attempt at writing a blues, and, i'm afraid, in the end it doesn't sound like blues at all. Busker (my "across the pond" music "partner in crime") is playing Rickenbacker drums, and me with my 650.
Oh, and since i got your attention (if i did, of courseImage): check this as well. Highly recommended!

Nice work on your "Sheena's Blues 2" piece. I have not followed the pages and pages of this whole thread - but did you post an English translation of the lyrics at all anywhere here ?? Anyway, keep up the good work.

I almost understand the words, Sheena! I spent all day Saturday at a Russian festival here in the Zoo. Saw The Russian Duo - Tamara Volskaya (domra) & Anatoly Trofimov (bayan) - what can I say... blew me away, they are virtuosos!!

Richard: no, i didn't post a translation anywhere in the thread.
John: do you know what's the other meaning of "bayan" in Russian?ImageImage

Well, long story short. In Russia, there's a whole lot of jokes (mostly "dark humor") about relationships between mothers-in-law and sons-in-law. One of them sounds something like that: "At mother-in-law's funeral, two bayans were torn". A while ago, this joke was too often posted on too many Russian "joke" websites and forums. Since then, people (mostly young & "web-friendly") say "bayan" referring to an old joke they already got tired of hearing/reading. So, that's the story.
There's yet another meaning of that word, but it's drug-related, so i won't go any further on it.

If anybody's interested what was that last song about (if so), here's a translation of sorts.
--------
It's a ridiculous fest, where i'm an alien at the sleepin' table,
And, like a magician, i open the doors to the world,
Funny, so what? I'm gonna drink again - that must be my fate,
But don't you worry, my song is a different story.
A stream by my feet, not my fate, i couldn't do that and that's what it's all about.
I come in. My name's Nobody. Hi all!
What i wanted, what i struggled for, what i sang - it all doesn't matter.
And i've taken off, but the sky turned out to be a window.
And all the words became a curse,
And i was breaking all and screaming that i couldn't save it.
Break the house, nothing new - it's backland, and nobody wins.
I've said goodbye to whom i've been here - hi all!
So, what to do? Alien, castaway, whatever,
But once again, i'm knocking on that door.
And a new round will bring a new dream, a new light,
But who's my friend if there's no enemies' names?
Roads, hands, feet, rivers - so what? Walking on cracked planets again?
To enter with a smile: "Hey, my name's Nobody - hi all!"
--------
That was, in fact, something very personal and still is very important for me - that was my life, you know. Kinda teenage, ridiculous, perhaps. That was long ago, but still, most of my friends here in Russia think that's the best one i've ever written.
Thanks again for those who took time to participate. Special thanks to Busker (you're great, mate!)
Cheers,
Nobody, er, Sheena.

Very interesting insight to who you are or perhaps were Sheena. Thanks for sharing.

As i said, it was long ago. Long story and not so nice at times. And if there were bad times, i realize now it was all my fault. But that's not what really matters. Busker's drumming, on the other hand, is. It's funny to collaborate with somebody you've never met in person, via the web, you know.
EDIT: funny, that. Just noticed that i have for some reason mixed up the two anthonyms ("enemy" and "friend") in a certain line. Twas vice versa, as it is now. Talk about how people can change as years go by. That line has no sense for me now. I'm not looking for enemies anymore. Image
