4004LK Pick Up Problem

Good idea John, unfortunately I live on a crawl space. Ampeg wouldn't sell me an 810 cab if I had a basement.

BTW, math is not my strong point, (it's my stunning good looks), but I've just noticed that HB pup's have been called HB1's or HB2's.

Are there two different HB's? If so, how are they identifiable?

All 4 string 4004 Rics have hb1 pickups ... these are the exact same hb1 pickups used on Ric guitars ... no difference at all ... the hb2 pickups are the ones that are adjusted from the back of the bass ... these pickups are used on 200 series guitars, 2000 series basses and the 4004cii5 ...

I agree with John Hall ... it sounds like a wiring problem ...

sometime bring the bass by my house and I will test it with the ohm meter ...

Thanks Jeff, Ken has offered to check the pickup and install a HB off his 650 Dakota if needed. I'm thinking it would be a HB1?

Mr. Hall indicated he thought the HB2 would be the best for the 4004LK. Perhaps I should look for a HB2 for my purposes?

I sometimes mix up the names of these 2 types of Ric pickups ... but here is the accurate info ...

hb2 pickup ...

hb1 pickup ...

So you want a working hb1 pickup ... the hb2 pickups are hard to find ...

naa .. but I did interview for a higher paying position in northern California and they made me an offer ...

John Hall knows more about the pickups than I do ... he just misspoke ... or missworte his answer ...
