Here's George

Post by ric330 »

The quiet one, I wonder if he had a lead foot.
George has inspired me through the years in so many ways. I really like pulling out his albums and hearing his interesting chord progressions and that unique slide work.

Since George raced Formula 1 race cars, let's hope he was a led foot. Listen to the song "Faster". It is inspired by racing. It is on the self titled "George Harrison" album.

That is a great shot of him.

He also had quite a wreck on the LA freeway around '73. Patti went into the windshield.

DId he actually drive the F1 cars, or just own F1 cars that others drove?

I know that he was very much into racing, and really admired fast cars of all types. In the 60's he had his Aston Martin DB5 and a Ferrari that he and the other Beatles would drive around, and he drives Ringo and Paul around in his McLaren F1 in the Anthology stuff.

Cool pic!

Well, despite all his exotica, a '64 Chrysler found its way to his door? That's a sweetheart of a convert.

I think George hit the glass, too. It was ages ago but there was a photo of them standing next to the car on the freeway, blood on their heads and all, perhaps it was a year or two later than '73 as I think it was in People Magazine or some such rag.

I think it was Formula 1 cars! I have a picture of him in the racing suit at the track. Now whether or not he was driving a car is anyone's guess, but if he weren't, why would he wear the gear? I'll look for the picture Jeff and see if I can post it.

He came out to the F1 GP here in Australia a few times - a real fan.

I've heard that George was good friends with Mario Andretti.

I think both he and Paul enjoyed their sports cars. That photo with the Chrysler looks similar to some shots from their time in the US....

Almost nobody wore seatbelts in '73...wasn't a law requiring it yet.

I pretty sure the photo w/ the Chrysler was taken in Fla. while they were doing the Sullivan Show. That is a sweet looking ride. probably cost less than 3k in 64. I wonder if it still exists and what it would be worth today with a Beatle connection
